About
Paleogastronomy is a blog about eating and more importantly enjoying the Paleolithic diet, and a lifestyle influenced by the paleolithic diet.
If you are not familiar with the paleolithic diet, there are many online reference websites that can describe it with much greater depth then we can. Here is a great example.
In a digestible nutshell, the paleodiet attempts to mimic the eating habits of hunter-gatherer man, before the advent of agriculture and processing of food. High on the list of paleo allowable foodstuffs are meat, vegetables, roots and nuts. Far off the list are foodstuffs from processed grains such as bread, pasta, and legumes such as beans and lentils Milk, cheese, flour, chocolate? All toast. Toast is toast.
Recently my brother and coauthors, Paleoguy and his significant other, Jane, decided to make a lifestyle change and follow a paleo-inspired diet. All of us are seasoned cooks and pocket oenophiles and we approach food as a means of sustenance, and as means of having fun and socializing. Intrepidly we reached out to the blogosphere to find inspiration from others that have attempted to adopt the lifestyle with a dash of taste. Alas, no source existed, so we decided to write our own.
So, here at Paleogastronmy.com you will find recipes, links to recipes, food articles, travel articles, restaurant and lifestyle suggestions that relate to the paleo lifestyle.
How do we define the paleo-lifestyle? I would say it encompasses a healthy diet and lifestyle, strong interest in fitness and athletics, a dash of travel and finding interesting places to enjoy paleo dinners around the globe. All this while not compromising the point of it all, to have a happy healthy life.
