Food Blogs are a Tough Place for the Paleogastronomer

It is tough slogging for the paleogastronomer in the the food blogosphere. A simple arms-length survey of a popular food and cuisine blog produced the following results:

Total Number of Recipes that can be easily adapted to the paleo-diet by removing 1 ingredient, like cheese.

We will be doing more of this arm chair analysis on cooking magazines and cooking shows in future posts.

In the meantime, to brighten your day, here is our recipe for Salmoriglio, a pesto-like sauce from Sicily that adds a bright spark to meat, fish and grilled vegetables. Fast, easy, delicious and paleo-compliant!

Recipe: Salmoriglio Sauce

Ingredients

    1/2 cup of the best olive oil you can afford
    3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    3 gloves of garlic, finely minced
    3 tablespoons of fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
    1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
    1 tablespoon fresh marjoram, finely chopped
    Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a small (1/2 cup) mason jar. Shake vigorously until all the ingredients are well combined.
  2. Pour over a steak, grilled sardine, or grilled vegetables and enjoy.

Refrigerate Salmoriglio sauce for up to 3 days. Each tablespoon ~ 90 Cals
