Lets cut to the chase before the jump.

Best Paleo-Friendly Hotel – Bardessano Hotel, Yountville – Opened in September 2008 at the height of the recession, the Bardessano is the only modern, carbon neutral hotel in the Napa region. It features minimalist architecture and a membership to the Yountville Fitness club for our weight lifting readers. Carbon fiber Orbea sport touring bikes from Spain are available to all guests for cycling tours around the valley. And, it is steps away from Bouchon Bakery (stick with the coffee) where all the local and visiting runners congregate in the morning.

The Bardessano features the best digital connectivity of any hotel I have been to in the world. Strong statement, but true. For the modern paleo-athlete traveller, this is the only place to stay. Our highest commendation.

Best Paleo-Friendly Fine Dining Restaurant – Cyrus, Healdsberg – OK, if you decide to paleo-dine and possibly wine in the Sonoma-Napa region, and you must go down for one paleo-gastronomic and economically crippling dinner, Cyrus is the place. Very paleo-centric 5 or 8 course meat or vegetarian tasting menus. Follow our tips, avoid the bread, cheese and dessert courses, and you will be in paleogastronomic heaven. Kudos to the very attentive, professional and jocular staff. They made a 3 hour dinner very entertaining. For the quality of of food and experience, Cyrus trumps the more commercially acclaimed French Laundry. Trust us, the paleo-tribe went to both.

Best Wine Tasting Venue if you fall off the Paleo-Wagon : Locals, Geyserville – If you are going to fall, heads to Locals, a collective for small batch artisanal wine makers. Make your life easy. Ask for Caroline, the proprietor of this fine establish, and ask her to pour tasting glasses according to her personal favourites. 16 tastings later you will have sampled the finest of the Sonoma vineyards. Buy some wine for your neo-lithic friends, support the artisan and you will enjoy great value, accolades for great tast, and your friends will enjoy great wines.

Biggest Surprise The French Laundry, the paragon of American cuisine and 2008 style conspicious consumption, is extremely paleo-friendly

Paleo-Tips for Travel to the Napa Valley:

TIP: If you avoid the bread courses, cheese courses and the dessert courses, it is relatively easy to score a paleo-friendly dinner in the Napa valley

TIP: Workout in the morning. Should you decide to imbibe in the multitude of wine tastings available during the day, you won’t be able to stand in the evening.
